Creative Occupation

Creative Occupation is an artist collective, exploring creative connections on Wadawurrung Country/ Geelong in places seen and ‘unseen’. Established in 2018 inspired by a project on South Channel Fort Island, in Port Phillip Bay, our practice is underpinned by links with coastal and (under)water locations around the bay and beyond.  We work in performance, visual art, poetry, film, sculpture, curating, field recordings; weaving the interactions of these fields together. Creative Occupation is an ecology of practice, emerging through organic flows and connections of ideas, concepts, creative processes, experiences, journeys, environments, and collaborations. The enactments of Creative Occupation manifest through events and communing through art, ritual, and creative play

Effie Williams

Effie aims to brighten up the every day by making art functional by creating paintings on fabrics that can be worn or used around the home, such as aprons, tea towels and tote bags. Using screen printing ink to paint and stamp onto fabric, the heat set process will allow the pieces to be machine washable and long lasting. Combining bright colour combinations with playful imagery, Effie's designs enhance the sensory nature of the hand painted fabrics. Expect to see lots of flowers, animals, fruit, vegetables, people and everyday things such as taps or umbrellas!

Andrew John Stewart

Over many years Andrew has worked with a wide range of media and styles. Art is a part of who he is and he concludes that painting is the vehicle which gives him the freedom to express his conception of his subject matter. Recently returning from Poland to Geelong, Andrew studied art at Deakin University and his art has been exhibited multiple times in Poland. “I am fascinated by stroke making and the rendering of form".

Vicki Clissold

Vicki is a full-time visual artist living on the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. A year ago she moved her art practice Pip-Squeak Art Gallery and Studio to Creative Geelong's Hub in Geelong's CBD. Vicki’s space has transformed an ex-cafe into an open studio/gallery where she can showcase her work, exhibit, provide workshops and tutor while continuing to paint toward exhibitions and competitions. This open studio allows opportunity for the public to interact and purchase Vicki’s art while she works.  She uses a range of visual art such as paintings, prints, sculpture, and dioramas through to large scale works on flat surfaces including murals and public art.

Many locals would have already seen Vicki's mural work around town, like the wrap around Belchers corner (Moorabool & Ryrie St) and recent exhibition THE WORD ON THE STREET at The Third Space Gallery +Digital.
